Article and Case Study Guidelines for The Bar Code News
The Barcode News will consider for publication, articles and case studies or success stories that meet the following criteria:
The article should be about an end-user of the product or service. It should illustrate how they are using it successfully and what benefits they are receiving. . A four line paragraph about the Reseller who installed the system or product, and another four line blurb about the the manufacturer of the product can be added at the end of the article. Details on the hardware and software are required. Models and version numbers, etc. Articles should run roughly 500 to 1,000 words. Case studies - 1,000 to 2,000 words. The article or case study should be new, not recycled.
By submitting content the manufacturer provides permission for the article to be run on www.pointofsale.com and www.barcode.com. This permission includes the right to use any logos or photographs that are provided. There can be a maximum of four back links. One each for VAR, vendor, end-user, plus one more. A back link to the article, from the vendor/manufacturer's website and the VARs website is required.
Photos MUST be included. We will not run articles with out photos. These should be low resolution, and the combined size of the photos should not exceed roughly 100kb. Cell phone photos are generally acceptable. The management of reserves the right to make edits to the content, that in its sole opinion are required for publication.
Vendors may submit their own written work, or a marketing company may submit it, or we can assign a writer. Fees run from $125 - $250 and the article will be completed usually within two to four weeks, depending upon the responsiveness of the various parties in responding to questions and providing photographs. The article may not be run elsewhere for a period of 90 days, after that, vendors are welcome to use the material in their own advertising campaigns.

Q. Where will the article be promoted? A. The article will typically be put on the front page of the website for a day, as well as being Tweeted, and promoted through other social media. These pieces also appear in the newsletter. Circulation through the newsletter and social media outlets presently exceeds 10,000 and continues to grow.
