New Direction for Barcode Scanning
Mobile 2D bar codes that allow movie patrons to access tickets from their cell phones are the most recent addition of fan-focused features offered by Fandango.
While Fandango already has apps available for smartphones like iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry, this new phase of mobile tickets targets movie-goers with more basic model cell phones. The 2D bar code is sent directly to the phone and can be scanned directly from the cell phone screen, allowing the customer to by-pass the ticket lines, and even the Fandango kiosk. This new form of mobile tickets is being implemented at over 100 theaters throughout the U.S. Fandango is the nation’s leading online movie ticket purchasing sites.
