BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Sep 12, 2014) - Established leaders and promising newcomers to the Massachusetts innovation economy were recognized by the Mass Technology Leadership Council at the MassTLC Annual Leadership Awards Gala last night. The Grand Ballroom at Boston's Westin Waterfront hotel played host to hundreds of the region's top tech executives, community leaders, media members and business luminaries as the winners in 16 categories were announced. Four additional honors were also given for growing, changing, and inspiring lives through developing and promoting technology in the region. They included:
The 2014 Commonwealth Award: Governor Deval L. Patrick. MassTLC recognized Governor Patrick for his leadership in refocusing the priorities and brand of Massachusetts around an "innovation agenda" for the future. "By investing in technology and key technology-enabled sectors, Governor Patrick has positioned and aligned the state to successfully compete for the talent, investments, and opportunities of today's globally interconnected world," said Tom Hopcroft, president and CEO of MassTLC.

"The promise of technology has always been to improve lives, and the 2014 Distinguished Leadership Award recipients bear that out in ways are making a real difference," said Hopcroft. "Whether offering the ability to the blind to function in everyday life, providing amputees with a more painless option for prosthetics, or motivating a generation of young women to pursue a CS education, the Perkins School for the Blind, Hugh Herr, and David Petty have earned their accolades and our deepest respect."
