Digital Commerce Provider to Support U.S. Online Sales, Physical Delivery and Ongoing Subscription Management for Bitdefender BOX
REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwired - April 16, 2015) - Avangate, the leading Digital Commerce solution provider trusted by thousands of Software and Online Services companies to grow their business worldwide, today announced that Bitdefender, the innovative security provider in virtualized, physical, mobile and cloud environments, is using the Avangate commerce platform to sell the first security solution designed to protect Internet of Things (IoT) devices in the U.S. market.
Bitdefender's IoT security platform, Bitdefender BOX, is a small hardware device that connects to users' home wireless routers and scans network traffic to detect and block potential security and malware threats from every device on the network. The protection software can be monitored and customized through an accompanying Android or iOS mobile application.
Avangate's commerce solution will support online software sales and physical delivery for Bitdefender's BOX in the U.S. This includes the hardware device, as well as a renewable, yearly subscription to the service. BOX acts as a "plug and play" hardware gate that offers access to a wide variety of cloud services for security and device management across the household. Avangate will also manage BOX's subscription billing, powering recurring transactions.
BOX is the only solution on the market that solves the rampant privacy and security issues that have proven characteristic among IoT devices.
"With 35% of Americans planning to invest in IoT devices in the next six months, the need for a solution to help enable the 'Security of Things' is more critical than ever before," said Catalin Cosoi, Chief Security Strategist of Bitdefender. "Working with Avangate as our U.S. commerce partner helps us quickly meet the demands of this fast growing market. We are confident knowing Avangate can handle everything from the initial delivery of BOX's hardware component, to managing the recurring online subscription for our additional software services, helping us alleviate the monetization challenge inherent to IoT and allowing us to focus on our technology and go to market strategy."
"The New Services Economy is disrupting every industry and software security vendors have shifted from shipping CDs & DVDs to selling electronic downloads and now offering services in the cloud. Going further, the Internet of Things is bringing new opportunities for selling recurring revenue services on top of hardware products, providing an ongoing relationship with the end-customer," said Len Eschweiler, Avangate's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales. "Bitdefender is pioneering the 'Security of Things' in the U.S. and we are honored to help them power new business and revenue models as they continue to make IoT an innovative, secure space."
