MakerCon New York Back for Second Year This September With Cisco and Intel

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 22, 2015) - The producers and organizers of Maker Faire[1] announced the dates of the second annual MakerCon New York[2] today. On September 24, 2015 the most influential leaders in technology, education, manufacturing, design and creative culture will gather at the New York Hall of Science from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. to converge on ideas, insights and valuable discussions regarding the international impact of the Maker Movement. Intel and Cisco present this year's day-long event, with additional support for the "Evening of Innovation" provided by Sprout by HP.

"We're thrilled to have Cisco and Intel join us as lead sponsors for another year," said Sherry Huss, vice president of Maker Media and co-founder of Maker Faire. "Their involvement in MakerCon indicates how important innovation, creativity and discovery are to their corporate goals, as well as overall support for the Maker Movement, which is incredibly exciting."

The format of the conference allows individuals to tap into thought leaders on their philosophies and idea on how to make things and get them to market. It's a meeting place for entrepreneurs who want to emerge in their prototypes for commercial retail, cultural and civic leaders driving Maker-focused initiatives and product developers inspired by the Maker Movement.

"MakerCon is a conference with an energy unlike any other," said Dale Dougherty, executive chairman and founder of Maker Media, founder and publisher of Make: and co-founder of Maker Faire. " It's an event that really highlights the successes of all types of Makers. MakerCon is the best place to find this all on display because attendees witness technology providers, leaders and local government agencies who are all supporting the growth of Maker culture and businesses in cities all over the world."

MakerCon is in conjunction with Maker Faire Week in New York, which begins September 21 and closes at World Maker Faire on September 27. In 2014, MakerCon featured 52 speakers; 10 keynotes; 42 sessions; four tracks; six major product announcements, and 20 startups. The one-day format, which is new for 2015, will focus on themes relevant to the Maker community, including the business of Making, manufacturing, education, health and robotics.

The event will also host the "Pitch Your Prototype" Challenge[3] presented by Cornell University. Five finalists will have an opportunity to present their innovative product prototype before a select panel of judges and the winner be announced and awarded a $5,000 prize. The day will end with the "Evening of Innovation" and the MakerCon Showcase, which will feature nearly 25 exhibitors demonstrating innovative products and technologies.

Advance tickets are available for $295.00 until Friday September 18 and must be purchased online.
