The Tag division of Microsoft announced today that they are adding support for QR Codes and NFC (Near Field Communication).  The purpose is "to expand its marketing solution to embrace more recognition technologies and simplify the experience for consumers with one reader for Tags, QR Codes and Near Field Communication (NFC)."

That Microsoft Tag is going to support QR codes is a welcome measure!  That means one less app we can carry on our phones.
