LA Galaxy and Shasta Beverages Launch Summer Campaign using SpyderLynk's SnapTags

Shasta Beverages and the LA Galaxy professional soccer team are launching an interactive summer campaign using SpyderLynk's SnapTags. Deployed to publicize Shasta as the official soft drink of the LA Galaxy, the marketing campaign using designer QR codes was created to entertain and engage Galaxy Futboleros fans.

Retail point of puchase signage as well as Shasta Beverage's 12 pack colas such as Orange, Grapefruit Zazz, Twist, and Tiki Punch will contain promotional advertising featuring players of the LA Galaxy team. The ads will contain SnapTags that can be scanned by fans to gain access to exclusive video content such as the Shasta Flavorstyle video.

Featuring the Galaxy Futboleros “Soccer Entertainers” who perform exciting soccer tricks and juggling in the video, their high energy performances combine balance, strength and speed to entertain fans. After watching the video, fans can “Like” Shasta on Facebook.

“Shasta is excited to use SnapTag technology on our packaging and materials to engage our consumers,” said Shasta Beverages Director of Brand Management Abbey Glaser. “Our Shasta Flavorstyle promotion powered by SnapTags gives fans an easy and immediate way to connect with us and bring to life the fun and flavor of the program.”

galaxy-stack-cardFans can also upload their own soccer trick videos. The fan-uploaded videos can be ranked by LA Galaxy fans, and an LA Galaxy player will choose his favorite fan-uploaded video as the month's winner.

Monthly winners receive Shasta and LA Galaxy prizes. Winning videos will be shown online as well as at a Galaxy home game on the DiamondVision jumbo screen. From the monthly winners, the best will be chosen by the Galaxy Futboleros as the grand prize winner. The grand prize winner will get a six-month supply of Shasta and a $1000 cash prize.

SnapTags are designer QR codes using a company's logo instead of indecipherable black and white pixels. They are also sometimes called Snap It Tag, Snap and Tag or Snap the Tag.

Highly customizable, SnapTags allow companies to specify campaign parameters for the brand, and are a great way to give marketing campaigns a kick. They add an element of interactivity to promotions and augment the effectiveness of traditional media.

SnapTags can be added to product packaging, print, television commercials or any other type of advertising. While helping drive sales and build product affinity, these interactive QR codes can be used to track relationships with customers.

Customers can scan the SnapTag using a SnapTag Reader App, and can also snap and send a photo of the SnapTag to a provided short code. By doing that, they can get access to coupons, prizes, sweepstakes and special offers. They can also receive exclusive content such as ringtones, videos, and production information. SnapTags come in different varieties, such as branded SnapTags, social SnapTags, buy it now SnapTags, action SnapTags and mobile giving SnapTags.
