You didn't think Santa was paying attention? Well, perhaps not, but the folks at ShopSavvy, the world’s largest mobile shopping platform, were.
ShopSaavy today announced its rankings of the most-scanned items during December, confirming the popularity of tablet computers as holiday gifts and shedding light on their relative popularity.
Six tablets appear among the 30 most-frequent product scans, with Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD getting slightly more interest from ShopSavvy users than the Apple iPad mini. Other Kindle and iPad models round out the list, along with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2.
“The tablet computer was undoubtedly the most talked-about gift item of the recent holiday shopping season, and our data confirm plenty of consumers were using their smartphones to make their tablet choices and find the best deals,” said ShopSavvy Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Rylan Barnes.
Televisions and video gaming components dominated the most-scanned consumer electronics items. “Call of Duty: Black Ops II” was the most-scanned video game, and “The Dark Knight Rises” was the leading DVD. Just one book appeared among the top scans: “Snakehead,” the seventh novel in the Alex Rider series. Only one traditional toy was on the list; it was Hasbro’s classic Easy Bake Oven. In housewares, Keurig home brewing systems ruled.
