POWERS LAKE, WISCONSIN (PRWEB) MARCH 22, 2016
Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC), headquartered in Columbia, TN, has released a case study that culminated in remarkable results affecting both the pharmacy and the patients for which they serve. Recognized by Truven Health Analytics as a ‘15 Top Health System’ in 2015, MRMC operates multiple inpatient and outpatient pharmacies and serves over 275 beds throughout Tennessee. Maury was tasked with the challenges that many hospitals across the country now face– reduce errors, reduce inventory, and maximize space. After analyzing best of practice solution options, Jeff Binkley, Director of Pharmacy, selected TCGRx as its vendor partner to implement their improvement plan.
Mr. Binkley said that he selected TCGRx because they were able to deliver a solution that not only addresses accuracy but that also paid for itself through inventory and workflow improvements.. “Maury Regional needed to automate the packaging of their unit dose medications for bedside barcode scanning. By adding in the Beacon® Inventory Management System, the MRMC team saw the benefits of using an IMS that allowed multiple users to pick and fill simultaneously. In addition, the TCGRx team was able to adjust the workflow processes, to maximize every inch of available space,” stated Binkley. Since implementation, Maury Regional has seen an overall carrying cost reduction of $645,325.00 over the last four years.
With the ATP and Beacon systems in place, the case study shows that Maury Regional realized an immediate decrease in inventory, of 8%, and a 43.7% decrease over a 4-year period. Jeff Binkley remarks, “Beacon has allowed us both on the quality side and on the financial side to have a process of continual improvement.” TCGRx has been a proud partner to Maury Regional over the last 5 years, and continues to assist them with adjusting workflow as business needs change. Matt Noffsinger continues, “MRMC is known for its commitment to patient care and accuracy in delivering medications. TCGRx is proud to have offered a solution that both contributes to their mission, but also has a positive ROI for them.”
